Maddock Ambulance Service (MAS) was formed as a non-profit corporation in 1972. 501(c)(3) status was approved on July 22, 2011. Licensed as a basic life support (BLS) service with one ambulance. MAS provides emergency medical service (EMS) in parts of two counties, Benson and Wells, and 174 surrounding farmsteads. Our service area covers 312sq/miles.
The MAS has 24 members on the roster including the medical director. There are 13 EMTs, 4 First Responders (FR) and 6 CPR drivers. Of these volunteers, 6 of the providers live elsewhere but continue to volunteer when they are “home” to visit. We are a highly committed, strong, dedicated group of individuals that form the MAS.
Continuing education and emergency preparedness are extremely important areas for the Maddock Ambulance Service. We have taken several measures to help ensure that our EMTs, FRs, and Drivers are ready for the variety of situations they may find when responding to an EMS page. Furthermore, we need continual training enabling our service to provide the best care possible in the pre-hospital setting.
All EMS personnel are required to complete continuing education and refresher courses to maintain that individual’s particular level of training. All EMS personnel have been EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) trained and certified. The MAS goal is to maintain a strong continuing education plan that focuses on training, safety, patient care, and preparedness for all our personnel.
The Maddock Ambulance Service volunteers for the EMS needs at many local functions throughout the service area such as: rock climbing wall, corn maze, concerts, football games, fourth of July celebrations, local rodeo competitions, demolition derbies, annual 5K runs, and bon fires.
